Developed with the help of Ferrari’s legendary Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher and first shown to the public at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 430 Scuderia succeeded the Challenge Stradale as the road-going variant of the F430 Challenge race car. Improvements over the standard F430 coupe were instantly apparent, both upon first inspection and behind the wheel.
Extensive use of carbon fibre, a Lexan rear window, titanium springs and wheel nuts, and other weight-saving measures reduced weight by 100 kg versus the standard F430. Software tweaks reduced shift times of the F1 automated manual transmission, while stopping power was improved with the addition of standard carbon-ceramic brakes.
The ride height was lowered by 15 millimeters and bodywork was revised to improve downforce without increasing drag. These changes included larger front bumper inlets with a reprofiled front chin spoiler, lower sills, rear lip spoiler, and a larger rear diffuser.
For the sonorous V-8 engine, the piston crowns were reprofiled and refined, whilst a revised carbon fibre air intake and higher flowing exhaust system were also employed. Their combined effect allowed for a compression ratio increase and a rise in power output to over 500 bhp.
Hardware and software improvements were also made to the transmission, enabling gear changes in just 60 milliseconds, which was barely any slower than what Michael Schumacher, a key contributor to the project, was experiencing in his concurrent Formula 1 car. This, alongside significant advancements to the aerodynamics, allowed the Scuderia to lap Fiorano faster than the Enzo; an extremely impressive feat given the Enzo’s sizeable power advantage.
The RHD example we are pleased to offer for sale was supplied new to the United Kingdom in September 2008 and was specified in Nero Daytona with a factory painted Argento Nart Racing Stripe. The interior is finished in Nera Alcantara with Rosso Tessuto 3D Fabric and Rosso contrast stitching.
