The Lamborghini Murciélago LP640-4 was unveiled in March 2006 at the Geneva Motor Show, followed by its roadster variant at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. With displacement increased to 6.5 litres, the ‘Longitudinale Posteriore’ (LP) V12 produces 640PS, which results in a 0-60mph sprint time of just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 204mph, exceeding its predecessor by 6mph.
The LP640-4 was also given a new single-outlet exhaust system incorporated into the rear diffuser, modified suspension, a revised ECU, and an upgraded clutch for the six-speed ‘e-Gear’ automated manual transmission.
The exterior received a noticeable facelift, including revised front and rear fascias, and asymmetrical side air intakes, with the left-side intake feeding an oil cooler. Inside, the seating was re-configured to provide more headroom, and a new stereo system was installed in the updated dashboard.
It is rumoured that only five LP640-4 Roadsters were sold in right-hand drive.
